Belinda Carlisle is a singer known for working with the monumental rock band, the Go-Go’s. The band is regarded as the most successful all-female rock band of all time. Her time with the Go-Go’s has yielded the colossal hits, “Our Lips are Sealed” and “We Got the Beat.” Carlisle has released four highly-successful studio albums with the Go-Go’s. Their debut album, Beauty and the Beat, topped the Billboard 200 chart and earned a double-platinum certification after selling more than two million copies. Another one of the Go-Go’s notable albums was their second studio effort, Vacation. The album peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200 chart, while the single, “Vacation,” debuted at number 8 on the Hit 100 chart. In 1985, the Go-Go’s broke up, and Carlisle pursued her solo career.
As a solo artist, Carlisle has had many accomplishments. She has released eight critically-acclaimed studio albums, her most notable being her second release, Heaven on Earth. The 1987 album spawned the number 1 song, “Heaven is a Place on Earth.” The album earned a platinum certification in the U.S. Moreover, Heaven on Earth went double platinum in Canada and triple platinum in the U.S.
Carlisle has received numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award nomination for “Heaven is a Place on Earth.” As a member of the Go-Go’s, she has also earned a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Last year, Carlisle and the rest of the Go-Go’s were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
