Three Dog Night is a Los Angeles-born rock band comprising Danny Hutton, Paul Kingery, Pat Bautz, Howard Laravea, and Timothy Hutton. The band emerged in 1967 with original members Hutton, Cory Wells, and Chuc Negron. Between 1969 to 1975, the band produced and released more than 20 Top 40 singles, including three number-one songs. In 1968, the band released their self-titled debut album, featuring hits “Nobody,” “Try a Little Tenderness,” and “One.” The album, released under MCA records, earned platinum status in the U.S. after selling more than one million copies.
After their phenomenal debut, the band released several subsequent releases, seven of which earned gold certifications in the U.S. In 1972, the band dropped their highest-charting effort to date, Seven Separate Fools. The album, which featured the number one single “Black and White” and the top 20 single “Pieces of April,” peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200.
In 1983, Three Dog Night released their last studio effort, It’s A Jungle, with the lead single “It’s A Jungle Out There.” The album featured tracks written by acclaimed songwriters Bill LaBounty, Barry Man, Cynthia Weil, Charlie Black, and Marcy Levy.
